Week 6 - Arrival training in Sofia

We had a training in Sofia

On another monday we packed our bags again to take a trip from Shipka to Sofia. Taxi - walk - train - walk - metro - walk - hotel, it took us 4 hours. As volunteers from a small village, staying in a 5 star hotel for the next five days took our breath away. Everyone started to discover their rooms and after half an hour we had our first lunch in the hotel. The food was amazing, I personally can't complain. I believe others also enjoyed big variety of meals throughout the whole trip. Delicious and nutritious :)

First session began at 14.30 and we gathered in a big room where we met our organizers Natalia, Dilyana, Maria and also other volunteers. We learned each others names and reached positive and open energy pretty quickly. Organizers explained us what is our schedule for this week, everything was easy to follow and our days were full of activities.

Good people all together is enough to make friends. After activities in the hotel we made a collective decision to find a nice place, sit down, order some drinks and get to know each other.

It started raining, but we had a roof

After first night out, we felt way more open in the next day.
We presented our project and others did the same. It was quite interesting to see what other projects were about. We had to make a presentation and a short play about our ordinary day.

Even though the process was creative and fun, some of us could not fight sleepyness.

:)

Later that day it was intercultural night so people from each country had to represent their countries. I was only one from Estonia and it turned out more fun than I thought to tell people something about my country. Some people did not even know what is Estonia so it gave me more freedom to talk about anything that I wanted. Was fun :)

On the third day we met more volunteers who stayed in the same hotel to participate in their mid-term training. We had a chance to ask them any advice or their experience about being a volunteer in Bulgaria. They were happy to share their stories.

After lunch break we were divided into teams and we headed to the streets to complete our challenge. This list of tasks were handed to each team. We had around 5 hours to finish this.

This was my favourite part of these 5 days because it combined social, physical, navigational, creational and entertaining aspects of our time. The lottery gave me very nice team and our time was very well spent.

We had to write compliments for each other and this is what I got.

On thursday we went trough more boring but not less important topics which were the rights and responsibilities of a sending organization, hosting organization, national agency and something more which I can not recall.
On tuesday and wednesday we had activities until 20-22pm which means we were quite tired to go out, but on thursday, there were no evening activities so again, we collectively decided to go out to celebrate our successful week and the fact that we made new friends. We had fun time and in the end of the night everybody made it to their rooms without any trouble.

Last day, friday. We had final session about youthpass and we shared our gratitude towards everyone and especially to organizers beacuse they were just great. We shared mobile numbers, social media etc. to keep contact. We were tired but also felt uplifting. We took some last photos, ate last lunch in the hotel and wandered around Sofia. Soon it was time to travel back to Shipka.
